Lily-Rose Depp’s most frightening work is here, and we’re not talking about The Idol; though, that one left us shivering. Nosferatu is the latest Gothic horror from auteur Robert Eggers, the man behind The Lighthouse and The Northman. The film is a remake of the 1922 German film of the same name and modern permutation of the 1897 story of Dracula. Bram Stoker’s Dracula has been reincarnated in so many forms, and this flick is just the latest (but might be the best).

This fresh take stars Lily-Rose Depp alongside Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Willem Dafoe and more. The story roots back to the original text, taking place in 1838 Germany, but echoes with modernity; a woman haunted by an ancient Transylvanian vampire named Count Orlok. Who hasn’t been there before?

Depp plays that young German woman, having recently married Hoult’s kind-hearted real estate agent, Thomas. When this woman, Ellen, was a young girl, she sought out a supernatural spirit for comfort, and instead was met with an evil force completely obsessed with her. Again, this just sounds like modern dating. We digress.

That evil force, Nosferatu by name, is played by Skarsgård. If you thought he was hot as a murderous clown in It, just get ready. Only this actor can make actual monsters sexual icons.

And now the movie is also a Oscars darling, being nominated for Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. And believe us when we say that you're definitely going to want to see all of the incredible art come to life. So ready to witness it all?

How can I watch Nosferatu in theaters?

The film was originally released on Christmas Day 2024. A horror film for Christmas? It worked last time. See: A Nightmare Before Christmas. And yes, it's still in theaters thanks to those Oscar noms. So you can definitely catch it on the big screen!

How can I watch Nosferatu at home?

While we can't think of anything better than screaming together in a theater, we understand if you’re too scared for a screening. Luckily, you can watch at home thanks to Peacock! Two versions of the film are streaming there: the original and the extended cut. Basically you have options depending on how spooky you really want to get!
